Bloody time has flown by hasn’t it.
While much of our energy has been diverted to either getting used to a new job (Hedy), trying to buy a new car (Hedy) or trying to settle Chloe into the house, we have also been busy on the next major renovation task … the Backyard Blitz.
This actually started way back in April when the liquid amber in the middle of the back lawn broke in half. With that major component of the garden design gone, and a set of old sleeper retaining walls that make the Leaning Tower of Pisa look normal, it was clear that it was time to “do something” with the backyard.
There are 3 major tasks in that, agreeing on a design, finding somebody to implement it and removing everything that we can prior to the work commencing.
We have finally decided on a combination of moss-rock type banks around much of the lawn area with a new block retaining wall inside that existing uphill fence.
We (Hedy and her dad really) are gradually working our way through returning the area to bare ground. The landscaper is now due on 24 November, so we at least have a deadline to work toward. As you can see from the photo album there is heaps of crap to get rid of.

that is one substantial project!!
