Mintaro Road Trip

[image:1238:l][newline] Hedy and I, along with the Jans, went on another trip to the Clare Valley on Sunday, although this time it was for just the day. We went up to view the progress at the Payne Country Estate … and to have some lunch of course!

Needless to say, the “ruin” now looks much more like a house with its roof on. Without the rain pelting in all the time it has become much drier inside and it is now possible to see a little of the vision for the property going forward … not too much … but a little at least! Seriously, I think I am just a bit envious, I could actually see myself undertaking a project like this at some stage. Standing out the front and looking toward where I was standing to take this photo you can easily picture sitting there on a warm summer’s evening, sav blanc in hand, wondering what the poorer folk are doing.

We walked the block or so down to the Magpie and Stump, the only pub in Mintaro, for lunch. Hedy and  had never dined here before … but will again for sure. With a wide range of up-market pub food we all found something that appealed … the Ploughman’s Lunch for 3 of us, a Thai Beef Salad for Jan No 1, Lasagne for Jan No 2 and a huge, and hard to manage, burger for the Paynester himself. Wines were both provided by Penna Lane, a sauvignon to start with followed by a Shiraz.

Oh … I nearly forgot to mention … the real reason for the road trip was to take the new car for a drive![newline] [thumb:1239:c]
